I have to 'third' what is being said here. You are most unlikely to have =

issues with classpath/3rd party libs since Ant takes care of the =
classpath
and a check out from Spring CVS will include everything you need.

If you are still having trouble getting a build post your error here and =

While I certainly understand the desire for nightly builds (we actually =

Spring is surprisingly easy to build from CVS.

You'll get all third-party libraries from our CVS, and a prepared build
script that auto-detects all those. So basically, all you need to do is
install JDK 1.4.2 and invoke our build.xml in the root of the "spring"
module. We even ship a matching Ant version. And for Windows, there's a
build.bat that just requires JAVA_HOME to be set and uses the included =
Ant
to perform the build.

Essentially, it's the same as when you download one of our
"-with-dependencies" distributions. Those zips include everything you =
need
to build Spring yourself, just like above. If you fetch a CVS snapshot, =
it's
the same build file and same directory structure, just with newer =
contents.

Matt thanks for the response. I have tried it already, I ran into JDK
versioning issues (note that you need proper JDK version to compile
everything but do not need proper JVM to run). Even if I install
appropriate JDK version, there is high probability that I will run into
issues like class path, correct versions of third party libraries etc.

Unfortunately in this industry, blinded with the 'it works on my box'
syndrome, we forget to cater to the needs of our customers. There are
probably many people like me who do not want to go through the pain of
downloading everything and compiling. One obstacle is enough to distract
early adopters. Providing a nightly build can only be good for Spring
and developers.

Hopefully I made a convincing case.
