fyi guys-- so far things are still "go" for a planned move over for the
spring rich client code base to its own project repository this weekend.
Juergen, I can also work with you to move the spring-rules code out of the
sandbox and into its own module as well (whenever it's convenient.)

Rich client developers / early adopters,

 

As yall may have noticed, spring-rcp is growing (which is great!), and I
think we've reached a point where it's time to open up the codebase to a
team of core developers (who are also users) in order to get the framework
up to a consistent, quality release-candidate form faster.

 

With that said, I am proposing moving the spring-rcp codebase to its own
project location, hosted at sourceforge so we can do just this.  Doing so
will make it considerably easier for me to add quality committers, with a
planned initial list consisting of me, Ben Alex, Jim Moore, and Scott Delap.
We'll still be an official "spring subproject", this is purely an
administrative thing so we can make sure those who have a vested interest in
the project are enabled to actively contribute and improve upon it.

 

This should be a very good thing.  I know between Jim, Ollie, Ronald, and
others, you guys have been submitting more patches then you can shake a
stick at.  Now we'll be able to improve the framework as a group.

 

If I don't hear any objections, I'll get the ball rolling with an
anticipated move-over date ASAP - my current plan is to make this happen
this long holiday weekend.  Right now I just wanted to put this out there.
If you are personally interested in being a rcp developer, please drop me a
line! 

 

Thanks!  And hey, I very much appreciate the great feedback I've gotten so
far on the framework - I am quite looking forward to continuing to work with
you guys!
