FWIW, the latest Oracle 10g JDBC driver seems to support standard JDBC
syntax even for CLOBS that are more than 4k. What took them so long? :-)
This did work with a large CLOB
Reader r = new StringReader(newString);
ps.setCharacterStream(3, r, newString.length());
