Would you know? Was there a spreadsheetcompare.exe that microsoft included in older versions of Office / Excel? I had a copy but it couldn't deal with my mult sheet workbooks.

Your add in worked great and fast!

Any idea why microsoft doesn't include something like this in Excel? seems so important. 500+ this week this was downloaded!?

Mind if I ask a couple more questions?

Does the add in have settings for things like find differences in cell formatting? I had an issue that somehow all the column widths of a 15 spreadsheet workboot all got set to the same width. Many of the cell widths were different previously. Your add-in at least confirmed that the cell contents weren't changed.

The latest release is from 2022. Is a newer version in the works? Care to tease what features you are adding?

Thanks. I don't believe Microsoft have provided any compare tools until the most recent versions and I don't use these recent ones because mine does everything I want.

There is no setting for worksheet format compare, only data compare as you have found. Trouble with that is that there are many properties of a cell or range that can change, of which value is just one, so to compare all the properties would be a big undertaking which most people would not utliize. If there are specific things you are interested in and you are somewhat familiar with VBA, my Essential Excel Add-In would be a good place to start as there are many small tools that do a lot of things. Also the Range Compare in Spreadsheet Compare is a lot simpler and could be copied as a new function.

I have not added any new features for a long time. At the moment it does everything I want, so until MS adds a feature that SC can use, or I have a different need, I will just keep supporting it. Essential Excel Add-In is when new (non-compare) stuff goes, so that is updated more often.
