I am unable to install the add-in in Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus Excel non two different Windows 7 machines. The Spreadsheet Compare subdirectory appears under Programs(x86), but the add-in tab does not appear in Excel 2010. The add-in does successfully install on one of two machines under Excel 2013 (also Office Professional Plus). In this instance the Spreadsheet Compare.xlam file is located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\xlstart.

Copying Spreadsheet Compare.xlam to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\XLSTART on the machine with Office 2013 adds the add-in to the Excel menu.

When I copy Spreadsheet Compare.xlam to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 14\XLSTART on the other machine, on startup, a Microsoft Forms error message appears "Could not load some objects because they are not available on this machine." followed by a second Microsoft Forms message, "Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine." The two buttons do appear in the Add-ins tab. Running the Compare results in a VBA compile error "Can't find project or library" in the debugger with prgCurrentWorksheetProgress highlighted.

The add-in is great. I would love to be able to use it on the second machine. Can you provide manual install instructions? I can see component files in the install.exe with 7-Zip.

Thanks,
Stephen Brown

I have never been successful running this tool on Excel 2010 running on 64 W7. The application instals succesfully into the following location "C:\Program Files (x86)\Spreadsheet Compare" and the contents in it are "Update Program.exe", "Spreadhseet Compare Help.chm", "Unist.exe" "Auto Start Spreadhsheet Compare.xls" and "Update Program Settings.ini". I have gone into excel options on addins section to see if I could activate the tool from there, but it was not on the list of addins. I checked on the disabled addins as well it isn't there too. I really want to trythis tool. Can somebody help please. Thanks all.

The addin is installed in 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\XLSTART' by default. Can you check if the file is there. If not, the xla and xlam are in the install folder and can be copied manually. Let me know if this works out.

Strange, only the new version (1.25.0) should install correctly for Office 2013. Can you upgrade to this version. Maybe MS made it link to Excel 2010 addins too.

On the machine with missing object, try v1.25.0. I added registration of MSCOMCTL.OCX which you should have anyway. This may fix the issue. Let me know if it does.

    Thanks, Steve

    Hi Steve

I wrote yesterday, it seems what I posted is not appearing here. May be I was out internet connection. Well, I did install Vr 1.25.0 and this installed all the files bt not in the location you specified but in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Spreadsheet Compare" . However, it still does not work. But I think it is our IT dept that have blocked the use of AddIns somehow, because ASAP utilities ins't working either.

I tested your tool on my personal laptop (which has the same system as company's) and it works beautifully. Now, upon testing of the Compare tool, I was thinking if the tool could generate a replica of the compared spreadsheets with same formatting but showing the differences between them. By this I mean, If I am comparing Book1 on sheet1 with Cell A1 value equals 100 Versus Book2 Sheet1 Cell A1 value equals 75, then the replica excel book should show A1 value equals 25. It would have been -25 if the comparison was reversed.

Starting with 1.25, the addin is installed in the office folder and the install folder so that you can install manually. Refer to the help file for manual install instructions.

For the compare, I think that you want to use the Merge Differences Report: https://c.fsdn.com/con/app/proj/spreadshcompare/screenshots/89281.jpg

Hi Steve, I have the same problem as cdoublen (2013-02-04) with v1.25.0 on Excel 2010 running on 64 W7, so I followed your instructions: "The addin is installed in 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\XLSTART' by default. Can you check if the file is there. If not, the xla and xlam are in the install folder and can be copied manually".
Neither the xla nor xlam nor any other files existed in that XLSTART folder, so I copied them into there (from C:\Program Files (x86)\Spreadsheet Compare). "Compare" & "Sync Scroll" icons now appear in Add-ins ribbon, but clicking on them gives error message: " Could not load some objects because they are not availableon this machine."
Any ideas? Thanks for your help.
BTW, I couldn't find any manual install instructions in the help file.

Just uploaded v1.25.1 with updated help file. There is an installation section that may help you out, otherwise let me know.

          Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve. I have the same issue here. Office 2010 x64 installed on non-standard location and Add-ins section visible but not usable Spreadsheet comapre. The first issue I had was the absence of the add-ins tab. I manually copied the two xla and xlam files to my office directory (D:\Microsoft Office\Office14\XLSTART), and now the plugin tab appears. But if I try to use it i got the error of missing objects on the computer (the error appears also at office startup). I tried to follow the steps here http://www.thefoolonthehill.net/Help/SpreadsheetCompare/Couldnotloadsomeobjectsbecauseth.html but with no success...
On the vba, the error says variable not defined on line 1715 of userform\Initializze (var name prgCurrentWorksheetProgress). On the options all the needed references seems to be there, and my MSCOMCTL.ocx file is in C:\Windows\SysWOW64, since windows is a 64bit version)

    Any advice?
    Regards,
    Luca
