When trying to start Splashdesk, I got an error message
that indicated that the IP address couldn't be
resolved. The exact error message was: Error: IP site
parse error.

While browsing through the sources, I found out that
Splashdesk uses the website whatismyip.com to found out
the users IP address. I went to this website and my IP
address was shown correctly.

Looking further through the sources, I thought that
this website might have changed and soon I found out
that this was the case here. I used google to find
'old' screenprints from this website and compared them
with the current website.

Sorry, I have no line numbers, but at around 80% of the
file SplashDesk.cpp you will find a line with this
information:
sPos= strBuff.find('your IP is ');

To resolve my problem I flagged this line out and added
a new line. It looks like this now:
/* sPos= strBuff.find('your IP is '); */
sPos= strBuff.find('your IP - ');

After recompiling everything in Visual Studio, I got
everything back to work...

I have no idea how to commit my change to
CVS/Sourceforge, so please admin or anyone that would
volunteer can do it.

The changed file Splashdesk.cpp is attached. Please
admin have a thorough look at it, it seems to work ok
but, I am not a C programmer!

Jan-Dirk

    I deleted the file since it gave me problems the next day. I
    am trying to find out a better solution.

    The attached SplashDesk.cpp works ok... have been working
    with it for a couple of days now and didn't ran into any
    problems.
