Spine is not to be mistaken for huge PHP frameworks such as CakePHP, Symphony or CodeIgniter. Even though some of the features are borrowed or inspired by those in mentioned frameworks Spine aim to be simple and easy to use, not bloated with features.

Spine should work "out of the box" with as little configuration as possible. Spine only provide you with simple tools to maintain a website or blog or such. It comes with (optional) pre-defined tables which are ready to use as you like (best suited for dynamic websites/blogs) and custom handlers for each table.
