I suggest you the following advice to prevent
installation failures:

in a terminal window one should type the following as
root before installing:

chmod -R a+w /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/chrome
chmod -R a+w /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/components

This will solve the dictionary setup problems when
trying to set up the extension as normal user.

While that may be acceptable on a single-user box, it's an
absolutely *horrible* suggestion otherwise.
