Yes I know that Knotify would be better than the simoninfo framework. However, as simon must be portable and fully functional on Win32 and I don't know how stable/usable KNotify is under Windows, we don't use it for now.
Is knotify4 working on windows?

Knotify4 is available in Windows version.
Tested with KDE 4.2.3 stable on a win 2k VM.
It's available and configurable in systemsettings, it's available in Apps (tested KDiamond & KNetWalk) and also configurable from there.
The missing part is KTTSD on Win though.
