Hi guys,
I've been stumped for 6 months trying to figure out why 2/3 of the time my IP is ending up blacklisted. I go to great length to maintain an impeccable sending reputation. But about 6 months ago I started landing on the Truncate blacklist even though nothing had changed in my mailing process, nor any server or DNS related changes and I keep my list clean of bounces as they occur.

If I hold off on sending for a while, then I'll drop off the Truncate blacklist.

If I push my luck and continue mailing while on the Truncate blacklist it just gets worse and I wind up on multiple blacklists. -- This, of course, kills my inbox ratio and cuts into my bottom line in a big way.

After much digging the past couple days I finally figured it out . . . everytime your image bot goes to validate the images in my emails it is converting the uppercase letters in my image filenames to lowercase letters. When this happens your bot is running into 404's and ultimately flagging my IP for it.

To confirm that I was correct in this assumption, last night a sent out a small batch (5k) of emails with 2 images embedded and both images had uppercase letters in their filenames.

When I started mailing I was NOT on any blacklists.

The first 2k ran through no problem. Still not blacklisted anywhere.

Then I started hitting servers using Spambayes.

Within 60 seconds of the FIRST 404 thrown by your image bot I was on Truncate's blacklist :-(

I know of many other marketers and vendors having issues with Truncate as well and I suspect that if I dig into their error logs I will find the very same thing happening for them (I know they all have good sending reputations).

This needs to be addressed right away, please!!

Your image bot is causing false IP flagging across the board, resulting in a LOT of people losing a LOT of money.

We need your help.

Thank you,
LL

spambayes doesn't have an imagebot. I suspect you are looking for a different tool that happens to use SpamBayes.

(also, complaining to a free tool about "a LOT of people losing a LOT of money" probably has the opposite effect of what you intend)

My apologies if I've posted on the wrong forum.

The user agent is listed as:
    User agent: SpamBayes/1.1a3+ (Image)

Any idea, please, on who to speak to about this?

My intentions were NOT to insult the spambayes tools in any way. I fully appreciate all that you do and the purpose your tools serve. - My apologies if my words came off in the wrong way.

    Appreciate your reply.

    Thank you,
    LL
