Spamato is an extendable spam filter system that combines several spam filters to effectively catch as many spam messages as possible. Version 0.9 of Spamato has just been released. With this version, we move to SourceForge and publish the source code under the General Public License (GPL). Spamato is released in three different ways: As an add-on for Microsoft Outlook, as an extension for Mozilla Mail, and as a stand-alone email proxy component that provides support for any arbitrary email client; an extension for Thunderbird is under development and will be published soon. The current release provides five spam filters, including a Bayesian-based filter, a collaborative domain filter, and a Java implementation of Vipul's Razor filter (Ephemeral and Whiplash algorithms). Additionally, there are several plug-ins, such as a statistics and results viewer. In the future, we do not only want to increase the number of participating (collaborating) users, but also the number of actively implementing developers of "third-party" filters and tools. We are eagerly looking forward to any comments, ideas, and feedback. Further information can be found on SourceForge: http://sf.net/projects/spamato and on the project homepage: http://www.spamato.net. |
