Looks like a GLSL Fragment program linking error might be to blame.
Fragment Program:spacescape_noise_glsl_fbm_fp GLSL link result : Validation failed! - Different sampler types for same sample texture unit in fragment shader.
I'll try to duplicate it on my machine, but if I can't, I might need you to attach the file you were working on:
F:/Dropbox/Daedalus Entertainment/VectorX/Spacescape/blue_nebula_complex.xml
Odd that 2048 works. How much GPU memory do you have on your R9 graphics card?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I'm also getting crashing on export. The small xml files will render out up to 2048, but crash on 4096. Complex files like the purple nebula will crash at 2048. HDR lowers the crash threshold. I've tested it on most of the samples. VRam never goes up more than 500mb on any file.

Just wanted to say I have the same problem; im on a geforce gtx680 with 2GB vram on windows 8.1.
(Driver version 361.43). I tested the previous version 0.5 but it seems to have the same problem.
I was working with the included example "purple-nebula-complex.xml".

In case you need the file, I attached it for you. Its just one of the sample-files adjusted a bit(Changed the color from purple to blue).
My R9 280X has 3GB VRAM.
I gave it a quick test run on my laptop. Same result, even with a different file(I tested a few of them)
In case its useful, my laptop as a Nvidia Geforce 840M with I think 4GB shared VRAM

Any progress on this? :/
I am wondering as well if there is any change on this. Or, what is the memory requirement?
