I just looked at a script I wrote to fetch music from a remote archive (yes, that was connected with my last email about https!) and I realised that it wouldn't be sensible to replace the uses of wget with play for two reasons: 1. One use of wget does some parsing in order to fetch multiple URLs from a list embedded in a web page. This is a fairly specialised use, and the only obvious way of letting SoX do this directly would be by having some way of passing options to wget. This is probably better done by the shell anyway. 2. I double-buffer the input using bfr (or dd if that's not available) to cope with network variation. I guess I should be using --buffer in this case. But not all the script's back-ends are sox: one is raop_play, which doesn't do buffering I guess I should be making SoX able to play to Airports...sigh! -- http://rrt.sc3d.org/ | The Next Station Is Oval (Anon) |
