I think its fine to deprecate it but we will have to watch the uptake of 
soxi in distributions to meet the one year date.
  Out of all the SoX scripts I seen "sox -V" is one of the most used.  I 
only want to make sure that the new (and better?) alternative is widely 
available to users before removing it.
