DDWAV files are wav files that contain recorded S/PDIF "static". These can be successfully converted with VLC which converts them to ac3, but, that is the only tool out there other than BESWEET which is windows only. Sox would provide many more capabilities to me if it would support DDWAV files.
With DDWAV files, it makes it possible for people to record ac3 audio with only an optical input.
