I have that scanner, and despite it worked on SuSE Linux 9.0 it is not
working on SuSE Linux 9.1! I installed it but xsane says "no scanner"
and YaST says: "i haven't configure scanner".
What shall i do?

Does SuSE 9.1 use a 2.6.x kernel? Then the former good old
(and always working) scanner module cannot be used any more,
because it was removed from the kernel. You may have to get
the newest sane backend and the newest libusb and access the
scanner via libusb.
I have the same scanner here, but still have problems. It
works .... okay, once. And then say your system goodbye ...
*sigh*
Anyone an idea for THIS problem ... ?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I'm not familiar with SuSE 9.1. What I know is that it uses
kernel 2.6 and therefore relies on libusb for SANE.
If your scanner is not detected it's most likely a problem with
access permissions. Try sane-find-scanner and check the
permissions on /proc/bus/usb/00x/00y where 00x and 00y are
the numbers reported by sane-find-scanner.
Additionally there have been some problems with the 1236
and libusb. Hopefully they are all fixed by now, but they are
still present in sane-backends 1.0.14. The latest CVS version of
SANE should work, though. You can get a CVS snapshot from
the download section on http://www.sane-project.org
