Hi
I have a 1212 with firmware V4.1.1
I have read the snap7 reference manual, esp. the topics about 1200
I have read the other discussions about the 1200 control.
But somehow I cannot get it working:
I run the ClientDemo. It connects (so IP address, rack 0, slot 0 are OK)
But when I do a [data read/write] it only mentions: CLI : function refused by CPU (unknown error)
The protections are set to "Full Access" and "Permit Access with PUT/GET communication" is checked
After that I downloaded my User Program. So this should be OK.
The DB protection I cannot set in TIA. That should also not be the problem because according the
manuals, this should only be set for S7 1500.
Any help on how to progress / debug is appreciated.
I would like to continue with Snap7, it is a great program!
thanks, John
Now I was able to uncheck the "optimized block access" for a new global DB.
But if I try to do a Data read on this DB (3), I always get a "function refused by CPU". I'm afraid it is related to the HW version V4 or firmware version V4.1.1.
Or is there somebody who got it running with those versions?

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I'm not very happy with this...
Apart for the new protocol, S71200 (limited to data I/O) is claimed to be compatible with the common HMI/OPC Server which use the standard S7 protocol as Snap7.
Why someone must to downgrade the firmware ????

Hi all.
I found out that going back in FirmWare from V4.1.1 to V4.0 helped.
Now I can address the 1212 with the directions mentioned by Davide.
And, Snap7 (+python) is a very nice piece of software. Well done.
txs, John

Just tested Snap7 with S71200 with 4.1.6 firmware and works fine.
DB unoptimized, full HMI R/W Access and Get/Put allowed.
Where can I setup the Get/Put settings? I can only find DB unoptimized and the full HMI R/W access
