The -identify option is a bit of a problem when it comes to DVD playback. It takes a long time for playback to start. In one case, it was getting information for a DVD with over 70 files. Would be great to have an option disabling it.
Also, it would be great to add volume and sub audio filters.
I know that -identify is slow with DVDs, but smplayer gets almost all info from the lines that -identify prints (for example, the audio tracks). Without it, smplayer would be quite useless.
I have found that it's more to do with the slow DVD playback in MPlayer's windows version. The same build of smplayer takes much less time on suse to start playback. Is there any way at all to increase the speed?
