Containers like mkv and ogg have a "default flag" feature which allows encoder to set a track as the default. Currently, media player classic will honour all default flags and play the correct track when it finds a default.

Mplayer by itself will honour default flags for audio and video only, but it does detect when a subtitle has the default flag set (only it does not choose it for some reason).

Thus, for containers like mkv and ogg, dont let smplayer choose track 0 when a default flag is found and when there is no user specified selection.

Does mplayer prints info about those default tracks? I've never seen it (but maybe I don't have any of those videos). If there's no such info I can't do anything.

Ok, I'll see what I can do.

Right now it's complicated because of the options to select the user's desired track in preferences.
