#890 Annonying effect when seeking with MPV engine
Hi Ricardo.
When using MPV as multimedia engine, if I seek forward or backward it generates a very annonying effect similar to flickering, but it is not flickering, for me it seems like the bar clears all the rendered and redraws again the entire bar or something like that...
...It does not happen when using MPlayer as multimedia engine.
Note that I'm using smplayer-portable-18.5.0.0 x64 and I tried many settings configurations like enable allow frame drop, disable precise seek, etc... but I ended thinking this maybe is just a design decission by the SMPlayer developer. Of course I can't consider this a bug, but a by design issue.
Then, maybe the position/seek bar drawing could be improved to have the same accuracy as when using MPlayer?, just I would like to avoid that annonying effect where all the bar is cleared and redrawn...

I forgot to say that I'm on Windows 10 x64, and also that the play/pause button gets crazy when seeking with MPV... but maybe that is an obvious thing for anyone who see the gif images.

I think I never experienced this effect in my computer. Does it still happen if you change the GUI (preferences -> interface) to "Basic GUI"?
Thanks for answer, using Basic GUI does not happen exactly the same but happens something similar. Please see:

The settings I used now are the default SMPlayer settings (I deleted the smplayer.ini to restore the default settings). As you can see, when using MPV engine the seeking bar does not update in the same fluently way as when using MPlayer, it seems the bar drawing ""freezes"" until the keyboard key or the mouse wheel is released, and happens the same with the current length label at the bottom-right corner of SMplayer window, and same problem mentioned before with the play/pause button. The UI controls does not seem to respond in the same fluently way when using MPlayer.
EDIT: wait, I just discovered that when using Default settings and Basic GUI this problem does NOT happen with all the video files, I mean, when reproducing some videos using MPV the controls get properly rendered/updated as seen in the MPlayer gif I shown above. However, I can confirm that when using the Skinnable GUI + Tango theme the problem appears when reproducing all the video formats that I tried.

And these others are kind of videos which works well, so when reproducing these videos below, SMPlayer does NOT get affected by the described problem of the seeking bar and the other UI controls:
Personal conclusion from my point of view (the end-user):
With Basic GUI the problem occurs only when reproducing specific videos (codecs issue related to MPV?, I can't be sure, both the problematic video and one of the good videos uses AVC), and with Skinnable GUI the problem appears when reproducing all kind of videos (at least all that I tried), then, it could be a user-interface unresponsiveness problem rather than a MPV problem?.

If you're using precise seeking (preferences -> interface -> seeking) try turning it off.
Hola de nuevo Ricardo. (si hay algún problema por hablarte en Español tan solo dímelo, es solo por poder expresarme mejor).
Ricardo, me dijiste que nunca habias experimentado ese problema, pero te comento que he utilizado diferentes máquinas virtuales en las cuales he instalado SMplayer (1.8.5.0 portable, con su configuración por defecto, solo probando con MPV como engine y "precise seeking" activado y desactivado) para probar varios videos con formato avi, mp4 y mkv, y bueno, todo esto me ha servido para comprobar que el problema sucede tanto en Windows 7 x86 y x64, Windows 8 x64 y Windows 10 x64, esto es una clara evidencia de que SMPlayer tiene este problema/bug/fallo de diseño por naturaleza en cualquier Windows en el que se pruebe.
Estoy convencido de que tienes que poder reproducir el problema sí o sí Ricardo... en cualquier sistema Windows.
Ojalá puedas solucioanr el problema.
De la única forma en que creo que puedo intentar ayudar solamente es aportando un resumen de mis observaciones en diferentes escenarios/configuraciones de SMPlayer (que deberían poder servir para reproducir el problema y apreciar ciertas diferencias):

El GUI con soporte de pieles tiene una pequeña animación cuando el vídeo está en buffering. Supongo que ese es el efecto molesto que ves. Por lo visto mpv indica ese estado con más frecuencia que mplayer.
Los otros GUI no tienen esa animación pero si el mpv es más lento realizando la búsqueda pues la barra tarda más en actualizarse. La opción "precise seeking" puede hacer que la búsqueda sea lenta, por eso te he dicho que pruebes a desactivarla. Puedes probar también a poner a 0 la caché para ficheros locales (preferencias -> rendimiento). A veces, con ciertos formatos, no usar caché hace que la búsqueda sea más rápida.
Nunca tuve ese problema y uso Windows 7 64 bits ¿Todavía lo tiene?
Desde el año 2018 que abrí este hilo, y después de varias actualizaciones de SMPlayer pues... creo que simplemente he dejado de notar ese efecto, ya ni me acordaba de este problema para ser sinceros, no veo que me siga ocurriendo, y yo sigo usando la misma configuración, la misma skin, y el motor de mplayer. Supongo que Ricardo fue mejorando el programa hasta que de repente dejo de producirse este problema gráfico.
