Today, upgrades for smplayer and mpv became avaiable in my distro's repositories. After upgrading, smplayer displays videos (tested with several different files) against a green background. What I mean is when video does not fit to screen, ususally there are black bands either above and below the image or left and right of it. Now this "background" is green.

The packages were upgraded from:
smplayer-17.8.0-1-i686 to
smplayer-17.9.0-1-i686
and from
mpv-1:0.26.0-3-i686 to
mpv-1:0.27.0-1-i686

I did not change any settings either for mpv or for smplayer. I fiddled with downgrading/upgrading them and this is what I found:
If I open a video in mpv itself (both old and new version), the background is normal, black.
If I open a video in smplayer, then the background depends on the mpv version, not on the version of smplayer. With mpv-1:0.26.0-3-i686 the background (when opened in smplayer) is normal (black). With mpv-1:0.27.0-1-i686 the background (when opened in smplayer) is green. Nevertheless, it seems to be an smplayer issue, because, as I said above, when I open a video in mpv itself, the background is normal.

This is caused by mpv 0.27 when using the letterbox filter (add black borders) in smplayer. Be sure the option to add black border in fullscreen in preferences -> general is disabled.

The problem has already been fixed in the development version of smplayer.
