I want to use the "volume normalization by default" option to not have to constantly move my volume slider around when watching videos that annoyingly have different parts use different volume levels (which is sadly almost all videos ever). I also want to be able to change what that volume is normalized to on a dime, depending on my surroundings. The former works, but I can't easily do the latter because...

Expected Behavior
When the box is checked, I can set the video's volume using the slider, and that decides what it gets normalized to.

Actual Behavior
When the box is checked, all videos are always normalized to whatever I have set the volume slider's maximum level to in the preferences. So, if I want a video normalized to 100, I have to open up the preferences and set the amplification level to 100. If I want 200, then 200, etc.

I wasn't entirely sure whether to make this a bug report or feature request, but I settled on bug report because I'm sure the volume slider isn't supposed to just be a useless doodad when this option is enabled.

    I can't reproduce the problem.
What version of mplayer or mpv is installed on your system?
