i usually use the keyboard shortcuts G & Y to jump either previous or
next line of subtitle so they can match them up with the audio.
There have no effect.

Those options don't work with mplayer2. They work with mplayer and mpv.
mplayer2 is not developed anymore, you should install mplayer or mpv.
