#645 Youtube playback not working again

SMPlayer 14.3.0 is no longer capable of playing youtube videos. This problem began a few days ago and has spread to more and more videos until today, when it can no longer play any youtube videos.

For instance, this video won't play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4X13Fjhp84

I can use smtube to download the video and then play it with SMPlayer, but I cannot play it directly from youtube in SMPlayer.

I neglected to mention that I'm using SMPlayer on Linux and that I have not changed my system - hardware or software - in any way since before this problem emerged.

I just downloaded 14.3.0 r6304 and it plays the above video, so this problem may already have been fixed.

Yes, it's fixed in svn.

A workaround for version 14.3: edit smplayer.ini and change the user_agent option this way:

[youtube]
user_agent=" "

(a space between quotes)

I'm using this PPA https://launchpad.net/~rvm/+archive/ubuntu/smplayer which has the problem. I prefer SMPlayer, but I installed VLC to watch YouTube videos since it broke in SMPlayer not long ago. Guess I can move back now.

I'm bored from SMtube bugs too. :(
When I try to play ANY video from SMtube list, I have the following error: "Unable to retrieve the Youtube page"
I tried again and again and on the 5-th try it starts play...
But.. With every new "Youtube code upgrade" situation getting worse and worse.
Now SMtube NOT PLAY anything!
I'm already tried your solution with editing smplayer.ini - and it has no effect. :(
Fix this shit.
