I just Compiled Mplayer 1.1 from source. and tried install from apt-get or compile the tar ball
both of them won't work.

I can use hear about 0.5 seconds of the sound. them all thing stopped.

The latest I have compiled is r35046 (tad newer than 1.1 release) and haven't experienced this issue with any files.

I think, this problem occurs when using smplayer 0.8.x and mplayer 1.1 with some .avi files. mp4 and .mkv containers work fine.

Using "mplayer the_clip.avi" directly works well.
