No

I have the latest version of SMPlayer installed, but I use the MPlayer-athlon-svn-34401 from the MPlayer for Win32 site instead of the one built into the full SMPlayer installer. And the "-nofontconfig" parameter is not working to this version of MPlayer. It still scans font files now and then. Pls check what's the problem. Thnx!

I'll post on the MPlayer mailing list and see what they say but I am pretty certain '-nofontconfig' has been borked since at least r33216, including r34401. Just tried r34401 and it didn't prevent the font caching (scanning).

Thanks. The "-nofontconfig" is preset to the portable version of SMPlayer and it's working to the built in version of MPlayer. It prevents font caching after the very first time.

That's not my experience. They all don't work with -nofontconfig/nofontconfig, The portable one is modified to prevent it from putting the cache outside the smplayer folder.

Yes, the difference is that, with r34401, SMPlayer actually displays the font caching process on the very bottom of its window, but with the built-in version of MPlayer, no displaying of font caching or what so ever, it may just does that without telling! And I can find the cache file. From what I understand of the "-nofontconfig" parameter, it does not prevent font caching, but makes an only one time thing. I don't if I'm right, it's just how I deal with the annoying font caching thing, and it's working in my case.

Just did some tests again. I deleted the .smplayer folder, which contains all the SMPlayer config, and I also deleted the MPlayer (c:\Documents and Settings\xx\Local Settings\Application Data\MPlayer\) folder which contains the .cahce-3 file. And then I ran SMPlayer without changing any original settings. I played a video file, it took a while for the video to start, I knew it was MPlayer creating the font cache, but no more scanning font files in the SMPlayer status bar. It's weird, but I'm glad that I don't have to be bothered by the font cache stuff any more. It must be the built-in MPlayer working the magic. One last question: Is the font caching an one time only thing without the "-nofontconfig" parameter? Thanks!

It didn't say anything in the status because I didn't modify the MPlayer source code to add it, it doesn't do that out of the box. Sherpya had it in his builds, 0.8.0 includes my build and had "fixed" it afterwards.

It is a one time thing.

    I'm also using

    Version: 0.8.1 (32-bit)
Using Qt 4.8.2 (compiled with Qt 4.8.2)
    Using MPlayer SVN r35203

I have the same font rescanning problem. It was working fine for several days and then today, it re-scanned. I have the -nofontconfig option
