#251 Player Won't Open

I have made several failed attempts to get the SM player to run on my computer. First of all, I installed the following:

smplayer_0.6.6_setup.exe 12,788KB
smplayer_codecs_20071007.exe 6,787KB

After installation, double-clicking on the desktop icon loads the program into memory; however, the program itself does not open. Furthermore, once the program is loaded into memory, it will not allow you to start any other program. Once it is unloaded from memory, functioning returns to normal, but I have been unable to get the program to open. I've tried a clean boot, with nothing loading but system files, and then reinstalling the SM player, but this procedure yields an identical result. After that, I obtain the following package and installed it:

MPUI.2009-01-18.Full-Package.exe 27,278KB Full SM Player MPlayer bundle

I'd then repeated my attempt to get the program to open to no avail. It loads into memory, but does not open. Finally, I install the following program:

smplayer-portable-0.6.6.7z 12,205KB

Unfortunately, this lead to the exact same result. No version of your program will open on my computer.

Items of potential relevance: the computer I am using does not have an Internet connection. The operating system is XP professional. It is connected to a large-screen television via an ATI Radeon X300 graphics card. I have used several other video players on this computer, all of which functioned perfectly: Crystal Player, KM Player, GOM Player, VLC Player, Media Player Classic. K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 4.43 is installed on the computer.

I can't reproduce this problem at all.

Anyway delete the smplayer configuration file (C:\Documents and Settings\your_username\.smplayer\smplayer.ini) and try again.

If that doesn't fix it... I don't know, maybe an antivirus or firewall is blocking smplayer.
