version 0.6.0rc2 (SVN 834) on kubuntu 8.04 final
When one instance is enabled there will be two instances: one for each display (nvidea fx5200 VGA output and its TV output). This makes adding to the playlist on the VGA while clips are playing on the TV impossible (using ¨smplayer_enqueue.desktop¨ from gentoo).
The two instance have mild interference from each other (sound adjustment) and are therefor not separate. Nor are they one instance as they do not control eachother (that would be awesome to be able to change all settings on VGA while fullscreen plays on TV but this is no feature request)
Please let app check itself if it runs on other display and open and add files to playlist there without opening a new instance here.
Anyway this is the best player on kubuntu thanks for your time o awesome creators.

Do you have the option "Use only one running instance of smplayer" (in Preferences->Interface->Instances) enabled?
That should avoid multiple instances to be opened, no matter on what display they could be.

Yes, it does work now. I guess it needed some time to work. And after log out it continues to work. :-)
SMPlayer application:
However SMplayer version 0.6.0rc2 (SVN 834) on kubuntu 8.04 final does not accept logging out. It quits when you try to log out and trows up a systemnotification for the user. (logging out has been canceled by SMPlayer). Then the user can log out again. If the user does not log out then SMPlayer refuses to be started again. When the user logs in SMPLayer does not restore its session, it does not open again automatically. You have to start SMplayer manually.
SMPlayer systemtray icon:
You can log out when SMPLayer is a systemtray icon menu. When you log in the system tray icon has moved to desktop 0 (VGA) from 1 (TV). It works but you have to quit and start it on the TV to get it to play on the TV of course.
SMPlayer systemtray icon:
If SMPlayer is open it does not accept logging out it gives a systemnotification and seems to quit, then you can log out again. When you log in the system tray icon has moved to desktop 0 (VGA) from 1 (TV). It works but you have to quit and start it on the TV to get it to play on the TV of course.

First problem here is that I don't have 2 screens to test.
Anyway saving/restoring the session is not implemented yet.
