Have tried the Samsung Black 3D Blu-ray Disc Player - BDE5900. After a failed download, it pulled in Steffen's application the 2nd try. It appears to work well with a mythtv backend running 0.26.0. UPNP is not as good as a real mythtv frontend (running right next to it). But it does work. Also of interest, I can pull multiple channel digital audio from the mythtv recordings out of the BDE5900 using the coax digital audio output going into a Sony amp/decoder while using Steffen's application. The BDE5900 does have support for a keyboard (and supposedly a mouse). I noticed that not all the keys work while in Steffen's application. For instance, one can enter IP numbers but not the "." character. For this I needed the remote control. I used the special color keys that Steffen set aside for these spceial characters.

Seems to work fine with UE32ES6540. Some of the screenshots of setting up the develop account didn't exactly match what I saw on the TV, but nothing I couldn't easily figure out.

Just installed on UE40ES5500 and UE46ES5500 - seems to work on both. Certainly seems to be the easiest way of accessing our Myth Server from the TVs. Comments so far - the fastforward seems a little temperamental. And if you stop watching, it doesn't seem to have any way to offer a resume at the last watched point. But these items not withstanding, it certainly seems to be a good app for now

I have installed it in a PN50C7000 and a BDC5900. In each case, the installation was OK, but the app will not launch. It just says "connecting" on the screen, and never leaves the Apps screen.

just installed SmartMythTv on my brand-new UE22ES5410. Versions 0.4.0 and 0.5.0 beta have been installed. The 0.2.4/2010 version has been refused to install (I just received two error messages (undocumented ... used, something like this)).
I hoped that I can stream Live TV from my Mythbuntu backend to my TV and I do not have to go for another set top box. Playback of recordings need to be tested yet (I am more using live tv streaming than recordings). I'll post an update.
Tiny little bug: After playing around with version 0.4.0 the app announces that it's version 0.2.4 in the left corner (press green button).
Looks like a very cool and smart app. Thank you steffen for developing and please keep on! I need Live TV streaming... :-)

Version 0.4.0 working well on a UN40EH5300FXZA . It's nice being not needing a computer to watch recordings. I wish it could play live tv too ,but I'm happy just being able to watch recordings.
Generally out performs our other mythfrontend (a 3-4 year old computer hooked to another TV) in that the video seems to be more stable and smooth.
Thank You!

I have a UN40F5500AFXZA with version 0.4.0 working on it. It seems pretty solid. I still haven't figured out how the videos section is sorted, but I am glad that I can get in there and play them because that's where most of my media is. So far I haven't encountered anything it can't play.

UN40D6000 works after a little modfication to the MythTV backend.
The backend address was set to 127.0.0.1 since the only front end was on the same box.
I forced the router to always give the same address to the MythTV box of 192.168.1.111, then changed the MythTV back end set up to use that address in two places, on the same screen, in the general set up screen.

Works, with minor issues, with Samsung UN40J620AF, UN40J620AFXZA to be specific.
Instructions need to be updated for recent TVs and TV software updates, I am running the app from a USB stick. I still haven't figured out how to install the app onto the TV itself, (Samsung is also migrating their app dev site, links will need updating.)
Each time the TV is turned on, the USB must be removed and reinserted for the TV to find the app again.
The first time the app is run after reboot, the first request to play a video fails. All subsequent requests to play work fine (till the next time you turn the TV on again).

At least with my TV, turn the TV on. Wait a couple of minutes for it to finish starting up programs in the background. (Unplug and) plug the USB stick in with the unzipped program files in a directory on it. (I got a short USB extension cable to make it more accessable.)
Press Exit on the remote. Smart Hub. Featured--Featured (to get the list of all the programs). It'll be the last one in the list.

Thank you for your feedback. If you would like, you are welcome to contribute live tv functionality.
Seems to work on a UN50F6350AF with 0.26.1 on the backend. Still trying to figure out skipping backwards and forwards.

works great on the UN65HU9000 2014 4K TV.
Recordings work as they should. Would be great to get some live TV as well!!
I'm happy to report that 4.1 and 5.0 work well on a UN65H7150
Good job. Keep it up.
Many Thanks.
Kris.

Works with Samsung UE50HU6905 , mythtv 0.27

I'm with you, waiting on reply!?

UN24H4500AFXZA or the H4500 series support?
SmartMythTV was developed for samsung d-series models, but it should also work with newer models. At the moment I can't test it on an H4500 model. However, you are welcome to contribute patches, if necessary.
