I know this symptom from various disks and iirc from various manufacturers. And it happened to me only if the disks had issues. Mostly issues with too much reallocated sectors or non-reallocatable sectors which also slowed down transfer rates in normal operations. Interestingly in your case it doesnt seem to be correlated to current pending or reallocated sectors.
