[smartmontools-support]why `offline tests` were called `offline`?

Hello.
The question is easy, why there's a word `offline` in tests and parameters 
name? Looks quite scary for a newbie user, because offline means like `drive 
must be offline to run this test`, which is not really true :) So, what was 
the real reason of such calling?
