S=E1ndor, I'm sorry that you're having trouble with smartd. If you refer to
the CHANGELOG file, you'll find this entry for the first release AFTER
5.1-18:

  [BA] smartd: if user asked to monitor either error or self-test
       logs (-l error or -l selftest) WITHOUT monitoring any of the
       Attribute values, code will SEGV.  For 5.1-18 and earlier,
       a good workaround is to enable Auto offline (-o on).

This *may* be the same problem that you see.

Could you please either try a current release, or as a workaround add '-o
on' to smartd.conf, or both?  And let us know if it helps, please.
