I've had luck with "-d sat" on USB device "0bc2:a0a4" with smartctl 5.40 r3189. This is a "Seagate Backup+ Desktop" USB 3.0 enclosure that comes with a Barracuda 3TB ST3000DM001 inside, though I suspect the disk doesn't affect the ATA passthrough. One interesting thing about this USB bridge is that it has a 1 physical sector (4KB) offset over USB. The bare drive (plugged into any ol' SATA controller) has 1 extra sector at the beginning of the drive. |
