This is the initial offline data collection status. It is logged as
LOG_INFO, no sign of trouble.

Are you sure the above is from 5.42 release (r3458) ?

The log messages should no longer appear with smartd >= r3428 unless
enabled by '-l offlinests' directive. See man page.
