Hi all, New here so hi :) Hope somebody can point me in the right direction. In the smartctl documentation it states the following: "...If any errors were detected, the Logical Block Address (LBA) of the first error is printed in decimal notation. *On Linux systems the smartmontools web page has instructions about how to convert this LBA address to the name of the disk file containing the erroneous block.*" So, I have an error, and it does return the LBA, but I cannot find any instructions about how to convert it to the name of the disk file, so that I can find the culprit! Here is the output from my selftest: ... Error 1 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 4791 hours (199 days + 15 hours) When the command that caused the error occurred, the device was active or idle. After command completion occurred, registers were: ER ST SC SN CL CH DH -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 10 51 f0 20 f8 50 e9 Error: IDNF at LBA = 0x0950f820 = 156301344 Commands leading to the command that caused the error were: CR FR SC SN CL CH DH DC Powered_Up_Time Command/Feature_Name -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- ---------------- -------------------- c5 00 00 10 f8 50 e9 02 00:09:53.443 WRITE MULTIPLE c5 00 00 10 f7 50 e9 02 00:09:53.433 WRITE MULTIPLE c5 00 00 10 f6 50 e9 02 00:09:53.423 WRITE MULTIPLE c5 00 00 10 f5 50 e9 02 00:09:53.413 WRITE MULTIPLE c5 00 00 10 f4 50 e9 02 00:09:53.403 WRITE MULTIPLE Can anybody point me in the right direction? I have searched the archives with no luck, and googled also with no luck... Thanks a million, Patric -- Q: I want to be a sysadmin. What should I do?
