Hi! Say, would You mind to test the SANE backend with Your favourite tools? It *is* alpha, but it already does a great job for me. Especially I am interested, if the building instructions are ok. Of course, Glenn, if You like to include the Kernel driver interface, I will be pleased. We should integrate the write memory call ASAP, because we need it for the Gamma magic (and some other magic :-) ) Or You want to play a bit with the motor control, because I don't completely understand the details (like torque control and so on). In the meantime, I will relax a bit, because I feel still overworked, and that's not good for new ideas. Perhaps we can collect some ideas for features or so in the meantime. Especially I would like a new - faster - DoOriginate algorithm, because I am not very happy with the original one. The fixed stepping size is bad, if the slider is somewhere at the bottom of the bed. Some ideas: 1 - Scan only one line at once. 2 - With "full black lines" step back with large steps (approx. 1 cm or so) 3 - With "full gray" lines step back at "fre mm." rates 4 - With "any hole" step back with "max 1 mm" rates 5 - Dont jump forward that far on startup (the DoJog(200) is a hack, not more). -- Mit freundlichen Gruessen / Yours sincerely Dipl.-Ing, Dipl-Theol.
