#44 perl regex searches with $

Searches including the $ (ie /prp$/) do not work,
while searches that include .$ (ie /prp.$/) work as
expected. These searches were performed using both the
Query Builder and the simple text search tool.
In the case of the /prp$/ search, the resulting page
displayed 'Internal server error' (see also my
comments to bug 534557).
