I have seen other password managers allowing the generator to exclude hard to distinguish characters (e.g. 0 vs O, l vs 1 etc.). Would this be helpful as well?

Yes, it's an other solution.
But sometimes, the password is not generated by Sleutel but provided by someone. So I still think that a monospace font is a more generic solution.
