Hi list, I'd really like trackback capabilities for slash. I understand Slashdot=20 doesn't need this (any site -knows- it has been slashdotted ;-). But a=20 lot of smaller sites would benefit from such a feature: sending a=20 trackback ping signal to original content websites indicating the=20 slashsite host a link to the original content website. (To keep it=20 simple, I'd do it one-way, sending pings only, not answering to=20 trackback pings and manage link spamming) I logged this as a feature request a few months ago=20 (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=3Ddetail&aid=3D1409562&gro= up_id=3D4421&atid=3D354421=20 ), but I doubt anything will be done soon. After reading on trackbacks, simply sending a trackback ping looks very=20 easy and straitforward. But I'm no programmer... :-) If nobody on the=20 list wants to code such a plugin, another slashsite owner encouraged me=20 to do the following: trying to gather as much people required to pay for=20 the development of the plugin (I've been told some other plugin was=20 developed this way). I have no idea how much this would cost, but as a first step, I invite=20 anybody interested in a trackback plugin to email me in private. Any=20 comment is welcomed, of course! Cheers :-) Alex http://slashgeo.org --=20 Alexandre Leroux, M.Sc., Ing.
