Regarding Journal Archiving. My suggestion is that
rather than archiving articles after a certain amount of
time, they be archived after a certain number of
comments posted in response to them: i.e., after 100
comments, you start archiving (or deleting) the oldest
comments. This way, discussion can continue on
journal entries which are of interest. It can be
implemented in different ways, but the point is to allow
discussion to continue on interesting entries.

Rolling discussions based on size rather than date might
make sense. Not sure how best to implement it, where the UI
lives, or what the numbers would be. But this is something
someone could certainly visit one day.
