Currently, when reading a story thread, each post has a
grey backgrounded header that contains the start of the
post, the score, userid and suchlike. Below that is the
first few lines of the post. Well and good.
Most people only want to read posts that are of a
particular score or higher - I'm in that group. But I find
myself constantly/occasionally dipping down ... So I
wind up setting my score preference fairly high (4+).
The trouble is that I wind up having to read more than
I want to usually :( Either that, or constantly scanning
that first line to the end to READ the damn score, to
determine if I actually want to read the post.
Humans can recognise a color shade *much* more
quickly than they can actually read something. So how
about changing that grey background to a color or a
color-shade based on the score ?
This could even be themable. For example one could
be a spectrum theme, scaling from dark red for top-o-
the-line down to dark blue for trash. Another would be
based on color intensity, pick whatever color you want.
Perhaps a dual mode - the header color background
based on the score, and the body color background
based on the Insightful/Interesting/etc rating.
That way, one can *rapidly* skim the long webpage,
zeroing in on the color of interest. Instant score
appreciation !
