If we had the ability to assign a topic or topic(s) to a slashbox, then
when a story was rendered, it would show the appropriate
slashboxes on the right hand side of the story per the topics of the
story.

What got me thinking about it was <a href="http://
slash.lottadot.com/article.pl?sid=04/06/18/
001233&mode=thread">this thread</a>

The interesting thing is that on slashdot, if you look at a particular
story, such as <a href="http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?
sid=04/07/13/0759231&mode=nested&tid=134">The New York
Times On Earth's Magnetic Flip-Flop</a> that story shows a 'science'
box that, I'm assuming, is keyed off the 'science' topic of that story,
via the block's name (ie "[% story.tid.name %]_more")

Anyway, with the section-topics re-write I thought this would be a
very useful modification, especially with regard to advertising
revenue.

I'm not happy with the chaos of slashboxes right now and someday would
like to revamp it. Right now we have some slashboxes that appear based
on skin and it's not done in a very clear way.

I can see the benefit of this, but I'm not totally enthusiastic about it
because right now, the space available for slashboxes in article.pl is very
limited. Too many, and the comments get pushed way down and there's
tons of blank space. I suspect once we move to CSS this may be
    alleviated...
