When viewing the main Slashdot page at http://slashdot.org, tags are visible even if you have gone to the homepage options and turned them off (i.e., "Show Tags" is NOT checked). This happens regardless of whether you're using the original index or the beta index. (The tags just show up in different places, is all.)
This has been observed on computers running IE6 on Windows XP SP2; and IE7, Opera 9.51, and Firefox 3.0.1 on Windows Vista SP1.
Especially with the new rollover tags with 'bubbles', this is fairly annoying.
Appears to be a dupe of 2130028 ?
Might be, because I know one of the comments on that particular bug mentioned that he was having the opposite problem. Combine the original bug with that comment, and you have what I'm seeing.
From the number of open bugs, though, I doubt anyone's actually doing anything about the non-critical non-security bugs anyway.
Buh.
The tags have been always visible for me since they first went live. I've never had them enabled.
They are ugly. They are active. They consume resources. They dance and light up and suck.
Please fix.
Bug still exists. Please fix. Of course, being in a named div, they are easy to nip in the bud.
