#3580 Bad Links created in User Space

This is an issue on the Slashdot.org site. I am
using Windows XP Pro and IEv6.0.

Sometimes the links in my User Space are formed
incorrectly. For example, my link to a friend’s user
page is sometimes set to
http://slashdot.org/~kryzx/~dav

With my /. configuration, on any article page there
are two boxes displayed on the top right of the
screen (below the ads, if present): the user box, and
the “User Space” box. The user box contains my
username with a link to my user page. In my “User
Space” I also have a link to my user page, and the
user page of a friend.

Now, if I click on the link to my user page in the
user box, the links created in my User Space are
incorrect, like the one above. They contain an
additional “~kryzx” when they shouldn’t.

This same situation occurs if I click the userid link
at the top of the left side menu.

But, interestingly, if I click the “Me” link in
the “User Space” box, the user page is created with
the correct links in the User Space box. (e.g.
http://slashdot.org/~dav )

This is an interesting phenomenon because all three
of these links to my user page appear to have the
same URL, but they produce different results.

The attached zip file contains files that show the
two versions of the user page that can be generated,
one with the good links and one with the bad links.
