Hey guys. Checkin the old email from my friend's computer here and thought I would comment on some of the stuff you were talking about. 50 meg boss: One thing I discovered while making the boss graphics is that the png's with transparency are a lot bigger than the ones without (using the ff00ff background). Clint and I had the idea of using some layered sprites to lower the memory amount and we sucessfully lowered the layer1 boss from 2.4 megs to 500kb I think. The doozy here is the transition, which is a 40-something frame animation of png's with transparency. I could do this without transparency so dramatically lower the size. Also, by decreasing the frame rate, we could cut it in half as well. I think the frame rate I was using for transition1 was 30 frames per second. We could take that down to 12-15 and it would still be effective I think. Movies and DivX: The 100meg version of the KillTV logo that Justin has is in a format that is good for transfer to DVD. It's not really compressed at all. With MPEG2 compression or even DivX compression, that would easily drop to about 10 megs. We are filming the intro tomrorow, so I will let you know how big it is in different formats. Otro: Yo quiero taco bell y mi hermano estas bueno. Oh wait, wrong language! I'll be back in College Station at about 11am and then I will start tackling everything like crazy. I should have the rest of the boss graphics done by 4:30pm and then the intro will be done by the end of the night. Monday will be screens and menus to jazz up what we already have and make adjustments. I'm super pumped to crank all of this exciting stuff out! Hope to see yall online tomrorow! -kurt p.s. dont you just love the 9th inning stretch? =) ************************ * Kurt Phillips * * Texas A&M University * * vi...@ta... * ************************ _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8.
