RIP

Yes, I'm suspending the project for an indefinite span of time. I have several reasons for this, but here are the most important:

**Servers are at a bad time to implement anything new.***
MySQL 4.0.1 has some features that would be really beneficial to the CMS. Unfortunately, this version is not widespread in its implementation. Also, PHP5 has its own feature set that would be very beneficial, but few if any servers have PHP5 installed.

***Public involvement is a pipe-dream.***
Some would say it's because of the project name, others would say it's because they don't have time, and the rest would say it's because they don't know enough about programming. This is too big of a project for me to do solo, and since it's been in the making for over a year with nobody commiting to it, it looks like it's going to be a solo project forever.

***Planning wasn't as complete as it needed to be.***
Even though I've been planning for such a long time, nothing has really come from it. Sure, the module and template systems work, but they have their own issues that need addressed and planning needs to shift around those issues. Call it research and development if you want. I call it poor planning.

***I don't have the time.***
Due to family, health, and income related issues, I can't focus on the project as much as I would like to. I've been working endless days on paying projects, making less than a McDonald's employee would, and struggling to find time and motivation to work on the CMS. Since I have had to work solo, this means that I get very little done in the span I work.

Are there things that could be done to make at least SOME form of the project happen? Yes, one major one. The modularity will be thrown out, and the old-school linearity will be put in. If such a thing was done, I could implement privileges and role-based authentication and have something working by the first part of May at the soonest, given the little bit of time I have to work on it. I'd really hate to see such an important feature of the CMS be ditched though, just because it means getting some sort of product released, but if I find times that I want something to do, I might just work on coding it.
