I don't think the statement in the docs is correct that "New windows, by default, have the same size as the last window shown." is correct. In fact, I have been trying to figure out how skim decides on its window size, but I can't. (I tried resizing the macos window to a different window orientation format, closing, and then opening the document again, but the original window orientation format is still the one that rules. Alas, my two different computers have two different window sizes, so I know it is influencable.)

Alas, my suggestion is simpler. Is it possible to store the size of the window for each pdf file viewed? I have presentations that I like to open in 16:9 format (well, 1600x900); and articles that I like to open in letter format (well, 850x1100). It would be a nice option to remember window sizes for specific pdf documents.

Should be easy, I hope. Store a list, say of the last 1000 filenames with last-sized format, in 'Application Support' and consult it for openings.

First, it can also depend on your General preferences (the "Open files" setting).

Then it only remembers the window size of the first document window when multiple documents are open (it cannot remember all at te same time, that does not make sense).

And maybe you understand incorrectly. It is not about the last time it showed the same document, it is about the last time you opened any (first) document.

And no, it is not feasible to save the window size for every PDF you have ever opened. It is also not what you generally would want to happen.
