This feature is really handy while reading a scientific article (i.e., you can see the details (title/year/journal) of the referenced paper easily); however, in some documents the fonts in the preview gets really really small. I am aware that this feature is just meant to get some idea what the link leads to and it is not an actual text but an image; but still in this particular usage (which I think is the case for most of the academic users) a size option would be really handy. What I mean is right now the size of the preview pop-up is fixed and it is really small compared to the size of the screen or the document. If there was a size or scale option, it would really make sense. There is a size option for thumbnails and snaphots, I think another size option for the preview wouldn't clutter the preference list that much. I hope it is not too much to ask.

It would have more downsides than upsides.

I realized that there are hidden prefs. (explained in this link) but increasing SKToolTipWidth or SKToolTipHeight has no effect. Is this a limitation of the kit or something else?

Even if there is a limitation in the kit, can't you scale the image? I understand that if you scale the image of the tooltip (I don't know if it is possible or not), it may look ugly but it may be more readable as well. The donwsides and upsides are dependent to the actual usage, aren't they? For some users, increasing the tooltip size would have no downsides but only upsides.

Thanks for the reply anyways. I would appreciate if you let me know if I am missing something.

I am not talking about those preferences, they're about the size, not the scale.

I could increase the scale, but it would be a downside to do that, because it would show a lot less. And the downsides are bigger than the upsides.

I though if the size of the tooltip is increased, it would automatically show the same (linked) area but bigger/zoomed-in (apperantly not the case),

If the size of the tooltip is increased at while incresing the scale of the image (with a slider maybe) this woudn't have the downside (e.g., a cropped image). (Of couse I again don't know if this is possible or not).

Coming back to this 'bugging' feature – and sorry for posting this in a "closed-duplicate" item, but I could not find the original issue this duplicates using the search functionality...

Scaling the preview by 1.5 – in scale and size – would make this feature a lot more useful on large/high-res. monitors.
More generally, it would be great if we could have a setting for this "scaling", that is a simple number specifying the relative size and scale/zoom of this generally very useful hyperlink-previews that are often simply unreadabale for anybody without superperfect eyesight.

I think that increasing the preview size, or allowing to customize it would be a great feature!
