Automatically resize and zoom to fit don't work within the snapshot windows.
To reproduce:
- Open PDF
- Create snapshot
- Crop page (not sure if the problem occurs without, but this is how I use it most)
- Take snapshot
- "Automatically resize" or "Zoom to fit"
Expected: actually resizing or zooming
Actual: no change, no zooming or resizing is done
Versions:
- Skim: 1.4.10 (84)
- OS X: 10.10.2 (14C109)
The first "Create snapshot" is superfluent and should be removed, can't find an edit button however.
These actions work on the display of the main PDF view. They don't work on the PDF itself.
Within snapshots these actions have different meaning. Automatically resize will resize the currently shown area, not the full page. And Zoom To Fit therefore does nothing (it will be disabled).
This is a feature, not a bug.
Is there an alternative or workaround in that case?
Just being able to open a single file twice would solve both of the bug reports for me, can I configure that?
I have explained how it works. It works on the displayed area. It is not supposed to work for the whole PDF. That's why it's called a snapshot, not a duplicate. If you want to use it in ways not intended, you can do so, but don't expect support. So, no, there is no support for showing multiple copies of the same file (and there won't be).
