I recently upgraded to SuSE 8.0, which includes XFree86 4.2, and since then I have not been able to display fonts correctly in sketch (everything else seems to work fine). On startup I get the following message on the console: Could not load font '-misc-fixed-medium-*-*-*-11-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1' for ruler. using defaults. Could not load font '-misc-fixed-medium-*-*-*-11-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1' for ruler. using defaults. Could not load font '-misc-fixed-medium-*-*-*-[0 11 ~11 0]-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1' for ruler. using defaults. When I try to load an exiting sketch file, I get a popup that says: "Cannot load '-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal-[~165.125121 0.106441 ~0.092663 ~165.125117]-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1[65 97 99 105 108 110_112 116]': no such font" The fonts in the diagram are then displayed with a some simple font out of straight lines. Postscript output contains the proper fonts however. I unistalled the SuSE rpm and installed from the source distribution. This did not help. I have added "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/latin2/Type1" to the sketch fontpath, since it is in the X fontpath. I have tried everything described on the font page of the user guide (http://sketch.sourceforge.net/Doc/usersguide-4.html). So far none of these have had any effect. Any ideas? TIA, Paul Giotta |
